Higher Education Practices for Social Innovation and Sustainable Development

Abstract Social innovation and sustainable development should constitute learning objectives in higher education across disciplines, while encouraging collaboration among future professionals. The theoretical framework of the multidisciplinary theory social representations applies training model scientist-practitioner-advocate to aimed at innovation. contribution considers light United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This chapter discusses some practices from two different countries fields study. In Czech Republic, innovative ways involving students practical work experience consist participation existing community projects, creation publicly presented content or involvement real-life situations. These examples activities lead towards enhanced civic engagement responsibility; a approach students. Croatia, interactive include rural pop-up hubs action research projects. They have been applied both public private institutions boost students’ critical thinking.
